Why join the Coach Academy?
Interview with Frédérique de Grignart, coach for Expat Communication and trainer at the Coach Academy.
Hello Frederique, what is your role in the Coach Academy?
Hello, I built the "Job Search Assistance for Expatriate Spouses" section of Coach Academy. I will lead modules 2 and 3 of the next training sessions, dedicated to "The emergence of the professional project" and "Job search tools for expatriation and return".
What was your journey to get there?
My career in HR has led me mainly to banking groups in the role of HR Director (ING Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, Banco Espirito Santo). My husband received a proposal for a position in Brazil. For me, this represented a new project, new perspectives. So we went with our family to Sao Paulo.
Indeed, it was a completely different step. The opportunity for a profound reorientation. I first became involved in an association for the children of the favelas. At the same time, I trained in coaching. Today, I am a senior coach, and I work with executives and expatriates. I am also part of the teaching team of the Coaching Academy.
Why did you join Expat Communication's network of coaches?
Like many of you, I followed Expat Communication through its FemmExpat and Expat Value websites and I felt very close to this spirit. Back in Paris, I joined the team and immediately embraced their approach to coaching. I participated in their intercultural training with Philippe Rosinski, which was fascinating. Since then, I have been leading intercultural coaching for expatriates for Expat Communication, assisting many expatriate spouses in their job search and I have contributed to the implementation of the Expat Communication Coach Academy certification training.
So let's come down to Coach Academy. How would you describe it?
The Coach Academy of Expat Communication brings together coaches specialized in coaching expatriates. They are qualified to coach Expat Communication's clients expatriates It is a selective network, which can only be entered via a training course. This ensures that coaches share the same values and approach to coaching.
As a coach, what interest do you see in joining such a network?
I see a lot of interest in this since I participated in the creation of the certification training! Seriously, the Coach Academy is a great opportunity to join a network, and therefore to be able to exchange on one's practice, compare our tools and especially discuss the cases of the people we support. Coaches abroad often feel lonely.
More importantly, continue to learn. All coaches have learned to support transitions and changes, but expatriation is not a transition like any other. We have worked hard to theorize what we call Expat Coaching. We rely on studies, surveys and decades of expertise from Expat Communication.
Finally, the Coach Academy opens the door to an innovative and very practical digital platform, which includes many coaching tools and a space shared with the coachee. A good way to enrich our practice and focus on what we like to do above all at Expat Communication: coaching!
