Expat Communication adapts its offer during confinement

Expat Communication adapts its offer during confinement

Expat Communication's services during the Coronavirus epidemic

Expat Communication informs and supports the French-speaking expatriate community during the epidemic:

In response to the Coronavirus crisis and the current situation of French expatriates around the world, Expat Communication, a leader in international mobility support, is adapting its editorial and support offer.

The situation of expatriates in the world: fear, uncertainty, loneliness and distance.

“What is difficult is the impossibility for us to reach France today. I just think that if something were to happen to one of my relatives, I would not be able to be at his side”, says Emilie, expat in Moscow on Femmexpat.com.

For all the expatriates in the world, the epidemic accentuates the distance. Fear, stress, loneliness… but also unanswered questions for the inhabitants of the countries not yet affected: ask for a medical repatriation? to bring back his children? At what cost? For how long? Who to believe among the contradictory instructions of the different countries of attachment? What are the medical and geopolitical risks?

Alix Carnot, associate director of Expat Communication and author of the book “Chérie, on s’expatrie” explains :

“After the second week of confinement in Italy, we felt a real need for moral support from our expatriates. They, usually so brave and resilient, are confronted with a terrible experience. Never before has our motto “Together, we care for expats” been so strongly felt. As of March 13, we decided to adapt our offer to meet their needs.”

Virtual meetings to maintain the link between expatriates

café expat communication

Virtual Expat Cafés:

Stephanie Merlant, associate director, explains:

“Just like the welcome cafes that expats know well, we decided to organize free online expat cafes to take a break from the hustle and bustle. We are inundated with articles, jokes and advice. But who listens to us? Is it possible to confide in us? Can we take stock quietly, without needing to justify or reassure ourselves, for once without wearing a mask?.

During this period of confinement, French-speaking expats from all over the world can benefit from the know-how of the Expat Communication team, editor of the Expat Value and FemmExpat websites and of the coaches of our Expat Coach Academy. Limited to 6 people and animated on zoom, these cafés are declined according to the problems and the time zones.

Workshops to go further on issues related to confinement or expatriation co-facilitated by the Expat Coach Academy team of coaches

These certified coaches, present on 5 continents, have 20 years of experience in accompanying expatriates. They offer two workshops per week on topics such as “I’m not a hero: tips for dealing with stress and uncertainty”, “Confined Expats with their children: 3 keys to staying calm”, or “how to accompany your parents”, and “some tips for motivating teenagers during confinement”.

A webinar dedicated to expat entrepreneurs is also planned in partnership with the L-Start network.

A follow-up of expats sent by companies

At a time when most international mobility managers are uncertain about whether or not their teams will be repatriated to the field, and when expatriates themselves are struggling to get a clear explanation from their employer, Expat Communication offers an adapted follow-up: systematic calls to employees and families by coaches to validate needs and possible latent anxieties, and subscription to the entire editorial system.

Meanwhile, while expatriation preparation activities have largely slowed down, career coaching for expatriate spouses and cross-cultural training continue. Precious meetings to meet, exchange and structure a disoriented daily life.

A quick reorganization allowed the complementarity of the information and coaching offers as well as a long expertise in online coaching. It allows us to remain as close as possible to the needs of the expatriate community, which is the first to be affected by this period of change and uncertainty.
