Workshop for children and teenagers leaving for expatriation: the essentials
Children and teenagers preparing for an expatriation with their families may be very enthusiastic or, on the other hand, feel trapped. How do they fit into the family adventure and how can they be more involved in this decision? What doors need to be opened so that families can dialogue constructively and build a common vision of this new expatriation opportunity?
During our personalized workshop, children and teens can ask questions and share what’s on their mind. They come out of the workshop with real ways to take action and participate in the expatriation.
What participants and their parents have said
Annick
Expatriate in Italy with her 3 children
“The feedback from my children was very positive, I have the impression that it helped them see this new expatriation more like anadventure rather than an obligation.”
Théo, 14, Australia
"My parents wanted to leave but not me, it was too far away. During the workshop I was able to put into words the things that bothered me to talk about them with my parents. "
Sophie, Canada
"My daughter felt I was pulling her away from her father (we are separated) and Expat Communication helped us to ease the tension."
Tiago, 9, Brazil
"It was good to be able to say what I wanted and to have someone answer my questions."
Objectives of workshop for future-expat kids: going abroad
1. Understand what a departure represents emotionally and materially speaking; give space to participants to express their questions, concerns, and motivations using the tools and exercises proposed during the workshop
2. Identify solutions and resources (websites, videos, books, …) to ease the transition
3. Join our family expatriation community, which helps to identify and adopt the attitudes that will facilitate the process of integration
