The essentials of spousal career support
This specific assessment is crucial for expat spouses and partners because expatriation often equals taking professional risks. International mobility is generally a win-win situation for the company and the employee – but for spouses, mobility needs to be an opportunity for forging a new career path and not sacrificing the former one.
We help expat spouses and partners to overcome the difficulties of those first “transition” months and to gain in agility and adaptability (both at the beginning of an expatriation and when returning home). In addition, we help them define and execute their professional goals.
What expat spouses and partners have said
Lorenzo
Expatriate in Sao Paulo
“The most valuable things I’ve learnt are ways of improving my CV, increasing my self-esteem, and joining platforms to extend my network and succeed in my job search.”
Nathalie, France
"The assessment allowed me to know myself better professionally. The inputs of tools and methods for an active search were very enriching, as was the networking aspect."
James, Italy
"Doing this skills assessment as a group was the major selling point for me. I felt supported and was challenged to go further. Even though it was valuable to do this now, everything I learned will definitely help me again in the future."
Marie-Anne, Singapore
I was able to put actions in place before leaving, and I arrived in Singapore with real leads and a realistic plan - I quickly found my new job."
Objectives of the skills assessment for expatriate spouses and partners
1. Define a motivating and realistic professional plan in the short and medium term. (Re)gain the confidence and energy necessary to forge a new career path and leave the comfort zone.
2. Carry out a skills assessment*: analyze personal and professional skills, aptitudes and motivations, define a professional plan and, if necessary, a training plan, using assets as a negotiating tool for job, training, or career development.
3. Establish an action plan and implement of the first steps (job search, business creation, freelance, volunteer work, training, etc.), but also get help with a specific query (writing a CV, preparing for an interview…).
